SEVILLE GOLDEN PRE-SCHOOL

SEVILLE1The Seville Golden Pre-School is a recognized early childhood institution, located in Seville Heights, St. Ann. In 2011 the school was amalgamated with Seville Heights Basic School and Golden Pre-School.  The combination was a consensus by board members of the two institutions.
With 108 students on roll, the school caters to students from the surrounding communities of Lewis, St. Ann’s Bay and as far as Steer Town.
The institution is subsidized by the government and adopted by the Sandals Foundation.
Children are guided by the Early Childhood Commission and are exposed to numeracy, literacy, Spanish and social graces among others.  There are  five qualified teachers (degree trained and NCTVET ), a  trained social worker, a cook to prepare the nutritious meals and a janitor who ensures the surroundings are clean.
Audrey Ashmeade; principal of the school with fifteen years of experience explained to The Times that her school is special because of the level of professionalism that is displayed.
She expressed gratitude to her supportive parents, board members, Sandals Foundation , community and staff for their overwhelming support to the institution.
In September 2014 the Sprout project was introduced to the Seville Golden Pre- School. It is a Sandals Foundation’s literacy programme initiated in several early childhood institutions to improve readiness of children to advance to the grade one level. It aims to Increase parental involvement at home and in school,  to enhance the teaching and learning environment for children, one that is better able to support physical, nutritional and cognitive development.  A trained teacher and a social worker spearhead the programme.
