Health workers from various disciplines and institutions in the North East Regional Health Authority (NERHA) gathered in the St John’s  Anglican Church, Ocho Rios, St Ann, Sunday, July 9,  to commemorate Health Care Workers’ Appreciation Month.

This special service provided a moment of respite and reflection for these individuals who have dedicated their lives to caring for others.

The church service commenced with heartfelt prayers, hymns of hope, and words of encouragement.

Sermon was led by The Very Rev Richard A. Tucker, Rector for the St. John’s Cure, Ocho Rios.

Among those in attendance were Dennis Morgan CEO of the St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital, Dr Tanya Hamilton, Senior Medical Officer, St Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital, and Nadia Nunes Parish Manager St. Ann Health Department.

It was an opportunity for these healthcare heroes to find solace, support, and inspiration within the embrace of their community. Together, they shared stories of resilience, compassion, and the transformative impact they have had on countless lives.

The Healthcare Worker’s Appreciation message was read by Fabia M. Lamm, Regional Director NERHA. She said the Ministry of Health & Wellness has again signalled approval for the recognition and celebration of Healthcare Workers Appreciation Month during July 2023.

Different categories of staff — united to serve

She said: “For us in the North-East Regional Health Authority (NERHA), plans have already been implemented to recognise the significant work and worth of all our 2800 plus healthcare heroes who have worked tirelessly and served diligently over the years, especially during the COVID-19 Pandemic and, in the last year, post-COVID-19, in restoring hope, good health, safety, and stability to the people of this nation, whom we have committed to serve.”
