The man described as a serial rapist has been now charged for at least eight counts of rape across St Ann and St Mary.

The man, Craig McFarlane, 39, is charged for five counts in St Mary and three counts in St Ann.

With regards to St Mary, McFarlane may face more identification parades.

Another man in custody has not been charged as he is yet to be identified in any of the identification parades.

The police are continuing their search for a third suspect, who they believe may have also robbed some of the women after they were raped.

The Times broke the story two weeks ago that police had held a man believed to be involved in up to a dozen cases of rape in St Ann and St Mary.

Days later the police confirmed that they had a man in custody and named McFarlane as then being charged with two counts. Confirmation came by way of a report of DSP Ryan Gayle to the St Ann Municipal Corporation.

It is believed he posed as a robot taxi operator and lured the women into his vehicle and then came off the routes and assaulted them.

The man allegedly carried out an onslaught of sexual attacks on women mainly between June and August this year. His victims were working class women, who resided on the North Coast.

The victims were also robbed of cash, their cellphones and other personal items.
