Scorned love leads to bloody early morning in St Mary

Three people are dead while two children have been left traumatised and without their parents, after a bloody early morning shooting in Annotto Bay, St Mary on Monday, January 13.Dead are Camille Bell of Merry Trust Lane, Annotto Bay and 36-year-old Miguel Campbell otherwise called ‘Blacks’ of Aleppo, Highgate. While the prime suspect in the double murder, Oneil Anderson was killed in a confrontation with the police several hours later. Police say the suspect was involved in a relationship with Bell, the woman who was killed.Reports are that at about 3:30 am, Bell and Campbell were at their home in Merry Trust Lane, when a man entered the home and opened fire killing them. It is alleged that one of the woman’s children witnessed the murders and made an alarm to his grandmother who lived nearby. It is reported that the grandmother alerted the police and upon their arrival, Bell and Campbell were found dead.Several hours after the fatal shooting, acting head of the St Mary Police, assistant superintendent Dwight Powell named the woman’s long-time lover and father of one of her children as the prime suspect in the matter. Within an hour after naming the man, Oneil Anderson as a person of interest, it is understood that he was shot and wounded after he allegedly attacked the police with a machete. ASP Powell told the North Coast Times that Anderson was immediately transported to the hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. The matter was reported to the Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM.The Times understands that the children have been left traumatised by the incident that they reportedly witnessed. The alleged suspect was the father of one of the children. The Times was told that Anderson was involved in a relationship with Bell before he was arrested and charged for a murder a year ago. It is reported that Bell discontinued the relationship while Anderson was in lock-up.ASP Powell says however that Anderson was acquitted of the murder charge in December and opted to rekindle the relationship with Bell. The woman however refused to re-start the relationship because she had moved on with someone else. It is alleged that on Monday, Anderson gained entry to the home and shot dead Bell and Campbell. The St Mary police are carrying out investigations.
