A grade eleven student who was charged with a sexual offence had his matter set for the next sitting of the St Ann Circuit Court in November, when he appeared before the St. Ann Circuit Court on Friday, June 12.The youth, who is not being identified by name because he is a juvenile, is charged for sexual involvement with a minor. When his matter was brought before presiding high court judge Justice Carol Lawrence-Beswick, legal representation was still outstanding in the matter. Defense attorney, Robert Brown accepted the assignment for the case. Prosecutor Jeremy Taylor then proceeded to make full disclosure in the matter to Brown by serving the complainant’s statements and the depositions.“The matter is now ready for trial, Me Lady,” indicated Mr Taylor. The judge traversed the matter, setting November 2 for trial. Bail was extended for the youth until that time. Subpoenas were issued for the complainant and her mother to appear on that date. “We are doing so, Me Lady just out of precaution as this case needs to be tried as a priority for the next sitting of Circuit,” Taylor explained to the judge who agreed with the prosecution’s stance.
