SANDALS TREATS ST ANN, ST MARY TEACHERS

BEACH DAY STAGED TO SHOW APPRECIATION

OCHO RIOS, St Ann; May 15, 2025

Sandals Ocho Rios Region hosted more than 400 teachers on Teachers Day, from educational institutions in St. Ann and St. Mary.

The teachers were from basic through to tertiary level institutions and were feted at Pearly Beach, near Ocho Rios, St. Ann.

Sandals Ocho Rios Region comprises Beaches Ocho Rios, Sandals Royal Plantation, Sandals Ochi, and Sandals Dunn’s River.

Many teachers participated in beach games that fostered teamwork and camaraderie and were treated to refreshments throughout the day of activities. (NERHA) was on hand, engaging teachers in their ‘Know Your Numbers’ and other programmes.

JIS News reported that prizes included six weekend stays at any Sandals or Beaches Resort in Jamaica, grocery baskets from Best Dress Chicken, and surprise giveaways. North East Regional Health Authority

Sandals Regional Public Relations Manager, Lyndsay Isaacs said, “The celebrations were not only about fun but also recognition.”

She said the prizes won for the day served as a token of appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the teachers.

For her part, General Manager at Sandals Ochi Beach Resort, Carol Bourke, told JIS News that teachers are the cornerstone of a thriving society.

“Their dedication to shaping minds and nurturing future generations is invaluable. It was both an honour and a privilege to host and celebrate these outstanding educators with a day of well-deserved enjoyment, camaraderie, and appreciation,” she added.

Teachers also expressed gratitude for the celebrations, praising Sandals for the thoughtful gesture and contribution to education over the years.

Teacher from Reaching Stars Basic School in St. Ann’s Bay, Tracey-Ann Byfield, said: “We’re thrilled with the incredible activities – far beyond what we anticipated.”
