PROGRAMME HAILED TO EXPAND TRAINING AT SCU THROUGH AI SPATIAL TECHNOLOGY
A partnership between Sandals Corporate University (SCU)and an international virtual reality purveyor is being hailed as one that could transform training and resource development across Sandals International and the tourism sector.
EON Reality is the company with which SCU is partnering to accelerate learning and expand its offering. EON Reality uses AI-powered virtual and Augmented Reality in its education and industry output. The partnership goes beyond expanding learning options and content and will allow the immersion of Sandals’ personnel into virtual spaces that will help standardize its services across its Caribbean properties.
The partnership was launched Thursday, October 5, at Sandals Royal Plantation, Ocho Rios, St Ann.
Tourism Minister Ed Bartlett hailed the launch of the SCU and the EON Reality XR platform as an innovation with “the potential to dramatically reshape the education and training landscape in the tourism sector and other industries.”
He said this could “fundamentally transform the methods by which we acquire knowledge and exchange training.”
Mr Bartlett said the technology could enhance tourism resilience.
Executive Chairman of Sandals Adam Stewart praised the team that has been working on the expansion of training options and content at SCU and its partnership with EON Reality. He said training had been at the heart of Sandals from the time it was founded more than forty years ago and he was committed to enhancing that.
He said the partnership would extend to impact properties beyond Jamaica’s shores and help to train and uplift people.
Watch as Tourism Minister Ed Bartlett describes the virtual space into which he has been taken in this demonstration:
Mr Bartlett and Mr Stewart participated in a demonstration led by EON Reality President and Co-founder Mats Johansson showing how the technology easily allows one to be immersed into virtual spaces at one of the properties. That will allow similar standards to be met or staff facilitated in learning and training under the resort’s programmes, wherever they are.
Also participating in the launch was, Wayne Cummings, Chairman of the Advisory Board of SCU.
Andre Campbell Learning and Technology Manager at SCU chaired the programme.
