Sandals Dunn’s River Opens With Stellar Guest List

TRANSFORMED RESORT IS LATEST SANDALS PROPERTY

Led by the Prime Ministers of Jamaica and of the St Vincent and the Grenadines scores of people celebrated the opening of Sandals Dunn’s River Resort, the newest property of the Jamaica-based hotel chain.

 

The hotel was bought by Gordon Butch Stewart in 2020 at the time of COVID-19 but the vision of what it should become did not die. Adam Stewart who became chairman of Sandals International. after the death of his father congratulated the Sandals team for their involvement and the support he got in bringing the dream to fruition.

The luxury all-inclusive resort has 265 rooms, several dining rooms, and three huge pools.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness paid tribute to Sandals and the late Butch Stewart and thanked Adam Stewart for transforming the property. Mr Holness’ counterpart in St Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr Ralph Gonzalves did the same and announced that Sandals would be opening one of its resorts in that eastern Caribbean country next year.

Also issuing congratulations to Sandals was opposition Leader Mark Golding.

Several tourism stakeholders spoke including Minister of Tourism Ed Bartlett.

Also on the programme was Marsha Smith MP for North St Ann. Other MPs from St Ann Lisa Hanna (South East) and Krystal Lee (North West) were also in attendance.

Among the local dignitaries were St Ann Chamber of Commerce President, JN executive Ransford Davidson; JHTA  vice president Vanna Taylor; CEO St Ann Municipal Corporation Jennifer Brown-Cunningham and husband Everton Cunningham; Deputy Mayor for St Ann’s Bay, Dalas Dickenson (representing the Mayor); businessman Colin Mills and wife Vera Mills and businessman Wayne Boot.

It ended with a high-wire party highlighted by Shaggy.
