It was a 1-1 draw between Sandals Ochi Beach Resort and C& J Enterprise in the Sandals Sponsored St Ann/ St Mary Business House Football league at the Drax Hall Sports complex, St Ann on Thursday, July 30.
The match got off to a slow start with new comers to the league C&J Enterprises keen to make an impression on seasoned Sandals Ochi Beach Resort.
Despite the large turnout of supporters for the Sandals Ochi team the team disappointed with some very sloppy passes. C&J Enterprises displayed more accuracy with several shots on target towards goal. The team also displayed more ball control and speed to set their team on the front foot to intercept the majority of Sandals Ochi passes.
The supporters of Sandals Ochi could be heard shouting from the sidelines that they needed to up their game and start taking a few shots towards goal.
The first goal of the match was produced in the 28th minute by C&J Enterprises. This came from the boots of #11 Bebeto Brown. He received a square ball from his team mate #15 Rushane Jarrett. Jarrett’s pass cut through the Sandals Ochi defenders into the 6-yard box, at the feet of Brown who struck a beautiful shot that beat Sandals Ochi goal keeper, Histon Henry.C & J’s supporters were ecstatic and the players had several more shots at goal. The Sandals team pushed on and had several off-location shots, ending the first half 1-0 to C&J.When the second half commenced, it was clear Sandals had got some rough talk or motivation from their coach. They started running, playing faster and taking powerful shots, one of which produced a goal in the 48th minute from #10 Roy Ricketts. He stuck a low and powerful shot from the 6-yard box after going around C&J Enterprise’s back 4. This shot was too low for C&J’s goal keeper, Shamar Beckford to get down to.Coach for Sandals Ochi, Marvin Boyd must have taken encouragement from that and the cheers of his team’s supporters.C &J’s coach Gregory Brown could be heard shouting instructions to his players to tighten their position on the field. The match ended without further score. Both coaches were pleased with their teams’ performance but said it is still early in the Competition and there are aspects of game play that need to be addressed.
