A retired St Ann cop is to be sentenced later this month for drug trafficking after pleading guilty in the St James RM court for trying to smuggle hashish and cocaine out of Jamaica.Everald Golding, 51, a former sergeant of police, pleaded guilty to drug trafficking on Friday, January 1when he appeared before the Montego Bay Criminal Court.Golding, a traffic cop who was well known in the Ocho Rios area, is to be sentenced on January 23.Golding, a resident of St Ann, was arrested on December 22, after being found with two pounds of cocaine and two pounds of hashish, at the Sangster International Airport.Police reports are that Golding who retired from the force last year was preparing to board a flight to Toronto, Canada, when he was stopped and searched. Members of his family were with him at the time. It was discovered that 127 pellets, containing two pounds of cocaine, were strapped to his body.The hashish, which is valued at millions of dollars, was discovered in his suitcase.Golding retired following major heart surgery last year.
