The Restoration of Life Mission of Christ Apostolic Church in St Ann’s Bay, St Ann hosted a back-to-school treat for several young children from the community on Saturday, August 23, 2014.

The church has moved to a new location, on Jail Lane, and this was the venue for the treat, Saturday. The church puts on a treat every year, just before the start of the school year, for children in and around St Ann’s Bay with host being pastor and nurse Albertha Boswell-James. This year, Pastor Boswell-James had the extra hands of two other organizers, Rev. Carl Lowery and Dawnmarie Lowery a certified nurse practitioner.

Pastor James spoke to the parents of the children about playing an active role in their children’s education.

Approximately 200 children were present at the church, in anticipation of receiving back-to-school items.

The children received several stationery items such as books, pencils, crayons, shoes, rulers and school bags. Refreshments were also served to the children by the organizers.

Parents were extremely happy and thankful for the tremendous work being done by Ms Boswell-James.

She had once said that the items brought in from donors and her family were once attracting Custom duties and charges that were excessive and imperiled the programme. However, she noted that as the treat had become better know and it was recognized that the items she was bringing in were for a good and charitable cause, it has been gradually getting better.

She said that in previous years she had difficulties with the authorities in clearing the goods as was said that the food items and accessories which also includes bags and shoes she was brining in were going to be sold by her. Pastor Boswell-James stressed that this was not the case, and her only intention was and is to help the children and parents.

Several parents and even children expressed love and thanks to her for the gifts. She said the goods donated were valued at about $US 1,600.

She thanked the Jamaican American Association and All Nations Church in Christ for donations of several school items. She also thanked Joy Mycoo, for the donations of school shoes and Micheal and Yvette Parker. It was a well coordinated treat by Pastor Albertha Boswell James and her team and she expressed special thanks to God for Him using her in a very special way.
