HAILED AS SELF-TAUGHT FAMILY MAN
Renford Egbert Emanuel Davis, affectionately called “Black Boy” and “Sir P” was laid to rest Sunday, December 10, at the Prospect Cemetery in Port Antonio.
This followed a Thanksgiving at Boundbrook Seventh Day Adventist church.
Sir P was remembered in various tributes as a family man and community person who was loving and kind.
Black Boy who died at 88 was remembered by his son Garwin as kind, a counsellor, and one who taught himself to read. He was a real community man who cared for his family and loved history. He saw the importance of education and was self-taught.
Garwin said he remembered that when Sir P decided to do the JSC (Jamaica School Certificate) examinations he was not given a chance by members of the community. He said his father was confident and passed History.
“He showed us the importance of forgiveness and compassion,” Garwin said.

Gareth another son reminisced on his father’s caring. “My father, Sir P saw to us going to school and I recalled as a student at Titchfield he would attend the PTA meetings and religiously on a Friday he would come by the school and give me the week’s lunch money,” he remembered.
Davis worked with the Jamaica Railway Corporation until the railway’s operations ceased.
Also in attendance were family members Marcia and Lydia Davis.
In charge of the service was Elder Colenso Campbell
