Two bodies with multiple bullet wounds were found within hours of each other and physically close to each other in St Ann setting off a string of questions for police to answer.
Police are not dismissing theories that the men could have been shot elsewhere and bodies dumped near Claremont or equally frightening for crime fighting is they could have been executed in the area where their bodies were found.
The men were killed between Thursday night, September 10 and Friday morning, September 11.
The identities of the men were released by the St. Ann police late Sunday.
Dead are twenty-four-year-old Howard Williams of Three Hills, St. Mary and 26-year-old Steven Nevers of New Bank District in Priory, St Ann and Three Hills, St. Mary.
Police reports indicate that Williams’ body was found at about 9:25 last Thursday along Fowl Farm main road in Claremont, St. Ann. He was discovered with gunshot wounds to face, neck, and to the chest region just above the torso.
The body of Steven Nevers was found hours later, Friday morning, September 11 at Crescent Park in Golden Grove, just minutes away from Claremont, St. Ann.
Further information ascertained from a source at the St. Mary police indicates that Nevers was arrested and charged for larceny of a motor vehicle.
Head of the St. Ann police, Superintendent Wayne Cameron explained that no motive has been established for the killings. However, the police believe that both were taken to the locations and shot. This theory Superintendent Cameron explained is based on a number of nine millimeter spent casings removed from both scenes. One other type of spent casing was removed from one of the murder scene and that may indicate that more than one type of gun was used there.
However, this theory has been brought under question by another police source. “If they were both killed in the area, you would think some residents might have said that they heard gunshots. It seems that both bodies were dumped at the scene. Criminals in Jamaica are very smart now. Look at it both men are from St. Mary, so why would they be brought here to be killed?” The police source argued.
A further response was sought from Superintendent Wayne Cameron to respond to these allegations. However, he could not be reached.
In the meantime, police investigators are making an appeal to residents from the area that may have any information to come forward and contact the police.
