Psychiatric reports have been ordered for the two men implicated in the murder of two US missionaries last year.
The case made its first appearance in the St Mary Circuit Court on Tuesday, March 14.
The accused men are: Dwight Henry, 25, otherwise called ‘Dougie’ and ‘Chino’, of Wentworth, and Andre Thomas, 25, of Port Maria, both in St Mary.
They are charged with the murders of US missionaries 48-year-old Randy Hentzel, and 53-year-old Harold Nichols.
In court last Tuesday, Henry’s attorney, Jacqueline Asher had requested that a psychiatric report be ordered for her client. There was still no sign of Thomas’ attorney, Leroy Equiano.
Presiding high court judge, Sarah Thompson-James later ordered a psychiatric report for both men in the case. Both men were remanded into custody until March 28, when the psychiatric reports should be presented to the court.
Randy Hentzel and Harold Nichols of US outreach group, TEAMS for Medical Missions were found dead in Albion Mountain district in St Mary on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, respectively.
The two were reportedly last seen alive when they left Tower Isle on motorcycles about 8:00 am on Saturday, April 30.
Hentzel was found face down with the hands bound and Nichols’ body was found with his head bashed in.
Autopsies later showed that Hentzel died of a gunshot wound while Nichols had a gunshot and chop wounds.
Following investigations by the local police, along with US investigators, Thomas and later Henry were arrested and charged with the murder of the missionaries.
The murder case was later sent to the circuit court after senior parish judge Yvette Wentworth-Miller committed the matter on Thursday, February 16.
She said at the time that a prima facie case had been made out against both men in the matter.
