Police this morning cleared a section of the Boston main road in east Portland following a protest by vendors at the closed Boston Jerk Centre.
Vendors this morning used old furniture and appliances and stones to block the main road outside the attraction. The road links east Portland to east St. Thomas. They say they want the attraction to be reopened. Some carried placards stating the economic hurt they are facing.
The attraction was closed by health authorities two weeks ago. The Portland Health Department said there were several sanitary inadequacies which have to be improved before reopening.
