The 14th annual Marcus Garvey Lecture will be delivered at the St. Ann Parish Library, St. Ann’s Bay, on Friday, June 6, at 11 a.m., under the theme “Advancing Garvey’s Vision of Economic Independence for Jamaica.”
The public lecture series is organized by the St. Ann Homecoming & Heritage Foundation in association with the Parish Library Network and endorsed by Discovery Bauxite Partners and the Jamaica Library Service.
The Foundation hosts the series in celebration of the life of Jamaica’s first National Hero who was born in St. Ann’s Bay on August 17, 1887, and died in England on June 10, 1940.
The lecture will be presented literally at the feet of Garvey’s statue mounted in the Library’s courtyard, and several chains away from his birthplace on Marcus Garvey Way.
