A man accused of stealing cows was killed by angry residents on Mines Road in Clapham, Moneague on Thursday, April 7.
The identity of the man has still not been revealed up to Monday
It is alleged that he and another man were seen with the carcasses of two cows in an isolated area of the community at about 9:45 a.m. Residents approached them and an altercation ensued.
He was chopped to death, while his alleged accomplice was held by the police.
The St Ann police are investigating the matter.
Last Thursday’s incident happened just under a week after two men were killed by angry residents in Bensonton, Claremont after they were allegedly seen leaving the community with stolen goats. Those men have since been identified as 37-year-old Dave Campbell, a taxi operator, and 22-year-old Alphonso Perry, both from Lime Hall in the parish.
A praedial larceny unit has been established in the St Ann to tackle the problem. This unit will be assisted by the national unit and the Ministry of Agriculture according to SSP Wayne Cameron at a stakeholder’s meeting on Tuesday, April 5.
