BAMBOO RESIDENTS CRY ‘DISGRACE’
BROWN’S TOWN, St Ann; Nov 23, 2024
Some residents of Bamboo in St Ann are crying shame and disgrace on others from that and neighbouring communities who have been turning the Bamboo Post office grounds into a dump.
It serves people from Bamboo, Shelly Road, Kimma, and Clargound among other communities.

Bamboo Post office is in a small building on a large lot in Bamboo Square, North West St Ann. People have long expressed concern that the building needs painting and the grounds need general upkeep, including paving and proper fencing.
But the garbage is now of more than concern as it is thrown all over the compound and sometimes scattered more by dogs and other animals. Some people say it’s a health risk.

People who have been fouling the place almost ignore the two skips on the compound and throw their garbage anywhere, even when the skips are not full.
(The entrance is not so grand either)
North East Parks and Markets (NEPM) provides household garbage removal services once a week. Yet some people regularly use the post office grounds as a dumping point.
The North Coast Times was unable to find out whether the post office staff has brought the matter to the attention of the Post Master General, the St Ann Municipal Corporation, NEPM or the St Ann Health Department for action.
