ALL FROM OUTSIDE PORTLAND
The Portland police have in their custody four people all from outside the parish on charges of breaching the Dangerous Drugs Act.
This followed the seizure of nine pounds of ganja on the Nut Hall main road in the parish on Saturday, April 8.
Charged with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja and trafficking ganja are: Jordon Brown, a 19-year-old construction worker of Burnt Savanna;· Gary Rodgers, 44-year-old taxi operator of Burnt Savanna and· Nicola Wilson, 39-year-old farmer of Burnt Savanna, all in St Elizabeth and, a 17-year-old girl from Lionel Town in Clarendon.
Reports from the Port Antonio Police are that they were conducting a Vehicular Check Point in the area when they signalled the driver of a Toyota Voxy minibus to stop.
The driver disobeyed the instructions of the officers. However, the vehicle was intercepted on the Stony Hill main road and a search was conducted and the drugs were seized. The occupants of the vehicle were arrested and charged relating to the seizure. Their court date is being finalised.
