Praises to Christina Williams, Ms Jamaica Festival Queen at Traditional Parade
PORT ANTONIO, Portland, August 7, 2026
The Independence Day Parade in Port Antonio got off to a late start, led by the arrival of the Portland Marching Band, ahead of the police and fire service as uniformed groups. Dignitaries included Custos of Portland Lincoln Thaxter; Mayor Councillor Paul Thompson; MP for Eastern Portland Isat Buchanan; Deputy Mayor Councillor Rohan Vassell, Councillor Clyde McKenzie, and Inspector Ainsley McCarthy in charge of Portland.

Custos of Portland Major Lincoln Thaxter lauded Christina Williams, Miss Portland Festival Queen, for being selected Miss Jamaica Festival Queen 2026. The Custos noted that Ms Williams was absent as she had national duties on the day

Tish-Khani Thompson, 1st runner-up in the Miss Portland Festival Queen Contest 2026, was acknowledged, and she performed a Festival song.
