A man accused of breaking into a shop in Portland nearly nine months ago is spending the holidays in police lockup after he was charged with the crime.
He is Twenty-six-year-old Sashane Kennedy, a construction worker of Halls Avenue, Port Antonio in Portland. Kennedy has been charged with shop-breaking and larceny in connection with an incident in his community on Monday, March 28, 2022.
Reports are that about midnight, March 28, a shopkeeper securely locked up his shop and left. The next morning, he discovered that the window at the side of his shop had been prized off. Food items, beverages and J$5000 were stolen. The estimated value of the stolen items is $60,000.
Kennedy was formally charged on Saturday, December 24.
His court date has not yet been announced.
