2 Businesses Adjacent To Market Burnt, Damaged
Up to close to mid-day, firefighters from the Portland Fire Department were battling a blaze at the Musgrave Market, Port Antonio in the parish.
Despite the best efforts of the firefighters, the fire that started in the market spread to neighbouring businesses including Kamal Supermarket which was burnt and a jewellery store adjacent to the market.
Also, there was water damage to several adjoining buildings and businesses as the firefighters tried to prevent the spread.
No one was hurt.

The fire started at the market on West Street close to the centre of the parish capital sometime close to 8:30 Sunday morning, The Musgrave Market in the middle of Port Antonio, Portland carries several stalls for vendors of fruit, food, meat, fish and also craft items and other dry goods.
It’s not clear what started the fire at Portland’s largest market but smoke and flames were seen billowing d from a section of the market starting after 9:30.
Three units from the Fire Department responded.
The fire drew a large crowd, including some who said they had goods and stalls inside.
