BELIEVED TO HAVE ACCIDENTALLY SHOT HERSELF IN TAXI

A policewoman is dead from a self-inflicted wound to the head, in Ocho Rios, St Ann, Friday.
The policewoman, a constable was reportedly assigned to a station in neighbouring St Mary.

Reports reaching the North Coast Times are that the policewoman had picked up her firearm at the branch of the Firearm Licencing Authority (FLA) in Discovery Bay, St Ann. She was travelling in a chartered taxi on Exchange Road near Hand-to-Mouth Street, at about 10:30 when a loud explosion was heard.
Details are not clear but the taxi operator rushed the policewoman to St Ann’s Bay Hospital, about 12 miles away, where she was pronounced dead.
St Ann police processed the scene where the shooting took place. Senior police officers were at the hospital up to mid-day, Friday, February 21, 2025.
