A marine police post will be established in Oracabessa St Mary to help fight drug and gun trafficking in the north eastern part of the country.
The marine post is being established by the Area Two police at James Bond Beach, Oracabessa. The marine post will help police the waters of Portland, St. Ann and St. Mary.
Head of Area 2, assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Glenford Hudson told a press conference yesterday (Thursday) that the establishment of the marine post is expected to start by the end of January.
“There are some logistical problem or issues to work out but we haven gotten written approval/permission from the owners of the property at James Bond and the approval from the commissioner.” said Hudson
He said this will assist the area two police in fighting the illegal distribution of narcotics and the gun trade.
