A senior officer appearing before the St Ann Municipal Corporation says there are too few street lights in the parish and this is contributing to crime.
DSP Williams stated that one of the concerns of the police is the inadequate number of street lights in the parish. He said that the parish is “pretty dark at nights, which makes our prevention efforts a little more challenging, particularly because we are aware that a lot of the crime we are getting here (in St Ann) are being perpetrated by persons external (to the parish).”
He said if the police could get the exit area of the toll in Moneague to be lit to facilitate more stop and search, they would be grateful.
