POLICE PROBE DEATH OF WOMAN FOUND AT HOME

 

MAIN SUSPECT, HER SPOUSE HOSPITALIZED

 

The St. Ann Police are classifying as an “undermined death” the demise of a woman whose body was found at her house in  Marley, Windsor, near St Ann’s Bay in the parish on Saturday morning.

Dead is Cameka Haley, a 44-year-old hospital attendant.

Her common-law spouse, Kevan Shirley of Parry Town, Ocho Rios, St. Ann is the main suspect in the investigation into her death.

The North Coast Times had reported that she was one of two people murdered at the weekend.

Reports are that Ms. Haley was last seen alive by her son on the evening of Thursday. At the time she was involved in an argument at her home with Shirley. Her son discovered Ms. Haley’s lifeless body on Saturday morning and alerted the authorities.

Upon arrival, the police found her lying on her back on the floor, dressed in a nightgown. They said there were noticeable black and blue marks on her neck and spots of blood on her clothing.

JUMPED INTO TANK

On Monday, January 29, the police searched Mr. Shirley in Higgins Land, Alexandria, St. Ann. The police report that upon their arrival, Mr. Shirley, who had reportedly ingested a corrosive substance, jumped into a concrete water tank. He was rescued with the assistance of local residents and transported to St. Ann’s Bay Hospital, where he was admitted in serious but stable condition.

Following the incident, citizens from the Marley community gathered at the hospital. Additional police reinforcements were deployed to manage the situation. The crowd was addressed and dispersed without further incident.

A police release said: “The investigation is ongoing, and Ms. Haley’s death is still classified as undetermined, pending further inquiries.

They are urging anyone with information that could assist in this investigation to come forward.
