MEN HOLD UP, ROB VILLAGERS THEN CRASH ESCAPE CAR
PORT MARIA, St Mary; March 23, 2025
A man was shot and killed by police during an operation when they were in search of men who had reportedly carried out an early morning armed robbery and hold-up in Valley Bush district, St Mary.
A gun and stolen items were recovered recovered from the slain man.
A police report to The North Coast Times is that on Sunday morning shortly after 4 o’clock they responded to reports of a robbery with aggravation. They said several people were held at gunpoint at a bar in Valley Bush, west St Mary. The victims were relieved of cash, cellular phones, and liquor. The police further reported that the perpetrators fled the scene in a motor vehicle, which later crashed and was completely destroyed by fire.

About three hours later, at approximately 7:10 a.m. while conducting a cordon and search operation, officers came under gunfire from the suspects. The law officers engaged the gunmen, and during the exchange, one male suspect was discovered with a firearm in his possession. A Glock 9mm pistol with a magazine containing eleven rounds of ammunition was recovered. A cellular phone suspected to belong to one of the robbery victims was also seized as was a sum of cash.
The injured suspect was transported to the Port Maria Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The St. Mary Police said they were actively investigating this incident to locate other individuals involved.
