Two shot dead in Annotto Bay
Two men were shot and killed by the police in Annotto Bay, St Mary on Tuesday, March 7.
They have been identified as: 35-year-old Owen Minott of Waterford, St. Catherine and Bedward Gardens, Kingston and 31-year-old Jonhoy Richards of Kingston 13.
Police said the men were seen at the intersection of Purcell and Lodge Lanes in Annotto Bay, on Tuesday evening. They were reportedly travelling in a Toyota Probox. Police intercepted the vehicle and the men opened fire.
During the confrontation with the police, Minott and Richards were hit. They were pronounced dead at the nearby hospital.
The other two men escaped.
Police said one .45 Patriot pistol with five .45 rounds of ammunition was seized. The matter has been reported to the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB) and the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
