Head of the St Ann police, superintendent Wayne Cameron has described an article published by Loop News on the Falklands community in Ocho Rios, St Ann as “highly inaccurate.”
SSP Cameron, who was speaking at a press conference at the St Ann Police Divisional Headquarters on Tuesday morning (September 20), explained that the only thing factual in the article was some of the men listed as gang members who the police were seeking.
“We want to make it clear that the article making the round on social media is highly inaccurate,” SSP Cameron stated.
The Times print edition out Tuesday, Sept 20 had carried a detailed response from the SSP to the article.
The article published by Loop News on Sunday (September 18) entitled “Situation Dire: Wanted men infiltrate Ocho Rios community forcing residents to flee” stated that residents were fleeing from the Falklands area because of several gunmen from Kingston and St James.
SSP Cameron denied those allegations.
He explained that the only persons who left the community were the relatives of Brian Henry, who was killed on June 26. He said that the police advised the relatives to leave in their own interest.
He also denied allegations made in the article that three murders were committed in Falklands, also called Mansfield Heights since the start of the year.
SSP Cameron explained that there were only two murders in the community. The Times has reported those murders.
