Police have expressed concern with the increasing number of murders in St Mary.

Between January 1 and Sept 7, 31 people have been murdered in St Mary. That is more than double the number, 13, killed last year in the similar period.
Head of police for the parish, Superintendent Bobette Morgan Simpson gave the figures at the monthly meeting of the St Mary Municipal Corporation on Thursday last. She said there were several murders that arose out of “interpersonal conflicts”. She mentioned one of the more recent cases when a man was allegedly stabbed to death by his nephew in a dispute over land.
