POLICE CREDIT UNION DONATES FANS TO SCHOOL

Ocho Rios Primary Benefits from Fans Donated by St Mary Branch of Jamaica Police Cooperative Credit Union

OCHO RIOS, St Ann; Oct 30, 2026

The St Mary branch of the Jamaica Police Cooperative Credit Union (JPCCU) donated four wall fans to Ocho Rios Primary School to improve teaching and learning conditions.

The manager of the St Mary Branch of the JPCCU, Philicia James Bailey, and her team made the presentation at the school in Ocho Rios on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

The donation was an expression of the JPCCU’s commitment to community development and the well-being of Jamaica’s future leaders. It comes following a devastating fire in June 2026 that destroyed the school’s entire Grade Two block.

The JPCCU’s St Mary Branch Manager told the North Coast Times that recognizing the importance of a comfortable and supportive environment for effective teaching and learning, their contribution is intended to help the school improve classroom conditions and enhance the comfort of students and teachers.

Speaking at the handover, Mrs James Bailey highlighted the importance of supporting educational institutions and responding to the needs of the communities they serve.

“A comfortable learning environment is essential to the educational development of our children. When students are comfortable, they are better positioned to concentrate, participate, and learn effectively. At JPCCU, we believe that our responsibility extends beyond providing financial services; it also involves making meaningful contributions to the communities in which we operate. We are pleased to support Ocho Rios Primary School during this challenging period and hope that this contribution will make a positive difference for both students and teachers.”

For her part, Ocho Rios Grade Two Coordinator Amoy Willis Bishop said, “We are deeply grateful to JPCCU for this generous donation. The fans will help restore a more comfortable and conducive learning environment for our students, and this act of kindness demonstrates a genuine commitment to supporting education and the well-being of our children.”

A release from the credit union said: “The initiative reflects JPCCU’s ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility, community partnership and sustainable development. By investing in initiatives that support education and the welfare of children, the credit union continues to demonstrate its belief that strong communities are built through collective action and a genuine commitment to improving lives.”

The JPCCU said it recognises that schools play a vital role in shaping the future of the nation and that it remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote educational advancement, community resilience and the overall well-being of Jamaica’s children.
