PAUL WILLIAMS

Paul Williams is known to be a sports and sports medicine enthusiast in the parish of St. Mary. For this he was recently awarded by the St Mary Parish Council for his contribution to his community. A retired medical assistant, Mr Williams studied at the Port Maria High School before attending CAST now the University of Technology, where he obtained a certificate in medical assistance in 1970.He then went on to do his internship at the Ulster Spring Hospital in Trelawny and worked with two doctors until he retired in 2012. He is now an ardent volunteer in different organizations in the parish. He is a past president of Friends of Port Maria. As the treasurer for the St. Mary Cricket Association and the Youth Sports Co-ordinator for the S. Mary Cricket Association since 1993, it is no surprise that he has been a member of the Jamaica Cricket Umpire Association for 34 years.Mr Williams is also a Justice of the Peace, executive member of the St Mary Chamber of Commerce and an executive member of the Lay Magistrates Association of Jamaica. He now resides in Galina, St. Mary. He was also a recipient at this year’s Governor General Achievement Award.
