2 Guns Seized In Raids

The Portland police seized two guns and arrested three men in connection with the seizures in separate incidents in the parish, between Sunday and Tuesday.
They say one of the firearms was stolen from a pastor who is also a justice of the peace, in Boscobel, St Mary.
Superintendent in charge of Portland Lloyd Darby confirmed that the raids took place on Sunday. Sept. 24 and Tuesday, Sept. 26. He said two Glock pistols and a total 22 9-mm rounds were seized.
In the first raid Sunday, about 10:45 a.m. in Shrewsbury, a man was taken into custody and a firearm recovered. The recovered gun is Glock 23 Pistol with one (1) magazine and 13 9mm cartridges. It was found in a suitcase.
On Tuesday, the police went to Bybrook community on another targeted raid. Supt Darby said: “Of note the second seizure is the recovery of that Glock pistol which was stolen in Boscobel, St Mary from the pastor and justice of the peace.”
He said Portland Police have so far this year seized seven firearms compared to four last year.
