DJS POSITIVE ABOUT WEDNESDAY NIGHT AWARDS

Party promoter and former talk show host Cornelia Smith sees the need to recognise the local djs in her community of Islington, St Mary for the support they have given to the party promoters in and around the community.
“We used them for our parties, grave digging and anything that we are doing.” Smith said.

From this, she has conceptualized the first Islington Selector Award, which will be held on Wednesday, December 10, at Friendship Square in Islington. Show time is 8 p.m. Smith told the North Coast Times the feedback from the awardees has been receptive, and the community at large is looking forward to it. Stating that the awards show will also see the recognition of some of the community’s upcoming artistes as well as the more established ones, such as Munga Honourable.
“We have to recognise our own and let the world know that they are from this community,” the party promoter said.
One DJ who will be recognised for his contribution to party events in the parish is Rushane Thompson, aka DJ Rus,h who is elated to be recognised for his work in the business.
“I feel extremely good to be recognised after being in the business for over 20 years,” Thompson said. Smith further stated that she hopes sponsors and other supporters in and around the community.
