OCHO RIOS WHIP HAPPY GROVE 5-0

ST ANN TEAM IN BIG VICTORY AWAY FROM HOME

PT ANTONIO, Portland; Oct 26, 2024

Ocho Rios High pummelled Happy Grove High five goals to nil (5-0) at Carder Park, Port Antonio, Portland, on Saturday afternoon, October 26.

It was the start of the hunt for a quarter-final place, among the top 16 teams left in the daCosta Cup.

The win means Ocho Rios High remain one of the few unbeaten teams in the competition.

The Happy Grove whipping came through a hattrick from Kaniel Brown and one each from Keanu Reid  and Shamari Linton.

The conditions were less than ideal with sections of the pitch underwater

It was sweet revenge for Ocho Rios who were dumped out of the final 16 last year with a loss and a draw against the Portland based Happy Grove.

Kaniel Brown in the 23rd , 41st, and 48th minutes knocked in the second third and fourth goals for the hattrick after Reid had opened the scoring with just two minutes gone.

Goal number five came in time added, from Shamari Linton.

Ocho Rios High Coach Veron Peterkin said it was the three points that mattered not so much the goals. He said the team made adjustments for the wet conditions.

Manager Eyan Kean said “Ocho Rios High took a no-nonsense approach to Happy Grove. We showed our intentions very early as we placed Happy Grove against the ropes.”

He said the defenders did what the coaching staff wanted them to do and completely denied Happy Grove in front of their home crowd.
