Ochi murder accused stays in lock up

The 58-year-old man accused of murdering his 22-year-old former girlfriend in the centre of Ocho Rios last month is to stay in lock up until October.

Norman Thomas, also called Ned, vendor of Ocho Rios, St Ann was again remanded into custody fin court Tuesday, August 9.

Thomas is charged for the murder of his former girlfriend 22-year-old Kyria Nelson, loan clerk of Pimento Walk, also in the parish.

Nelson was stabbed and her throat slashed just after she opened the offices to the loan company where she worked in Ocho Rios, Wednesday morning, June 29.

The court was told that the case files are incomplete, but statements are in compliance with the Committal Proceedings Act. The investigating officer is on sick leave, hence the case has been set for mention on October 6.

Thomas will stay in lock up until then.
