Family members and friends have been plunged into mourning following another traffic crash on the nation’s road.
In the latest crash, a St Ann man was killed when his motorcycle collided with a motor vehicle along Banana Street in Port Maria, St Mary on Saturday, September 10.
The man has been identified as 25-year-old Alex Marsh, a labourer of Breadnut Hill, St Ann.
Reports from the Port Maria police are that about 2:30 p.m., Marsh and his pillion rider were travelling towards Port Maria when their motorcycle collided with a motor car which was heading in the opposite direction towards Ocho Rios.
Both sustained multiple injuries and were assisted to hospital, where Marsh was pronounced dead and the male pillion passenger admitted in stable condition.
Eyewitnesses report that Marsh had sustained severe head injuries from the crash.
The driver, who was initially taken to hospital, was released.
According to a release from the Constabulary Communications Unit (CCU), the driver of the motor car has been warned for prosecution.
In the meantime, family members of Alex Marsh are experiencing deep sadness at the news of his death.
Several family members had taken to Facebook on Sunday morning, September 11 to express their shock at Marsh’s death.
A cousin of Marsh, Antonio Marsh wrote on Facebook: “People again I have lost another close family member. This one also very heart breaking. Sad sad sad R I P mi cousin Alex.”
Another relative, Paulette Sivan wrote: “We’re all heart broken here… can’t believe another family loss… RIP mi cuz.”
For Marsh’s aunt, Charmaine Dennis, the loss was just too much. “Oh Leno this must be a dream… it has to be.. my nephew is gone kebo. Alex is gone! I’m drowning in tears right now!”
