There has been no change to traffic flow into and through Brown’s Town, although the St Ann Municipal Corporation (SAMC) issued a release saying the changes would take effect as of Monday, December 19.
As motorists and pedestrians alike complain about the crowded street and particularly lack of parking spaces, people are also facing lack of water in their pipes.
Because of the narrow streets of Brown’s Town and the lack of any proper parking lot, it is usual for the SAMC to effect traffic flow changes to affect Main Street, Top Road and the Standfast area.
But checks by North Coast Times today (Tuesday, Dec. 20) showed that the changes outlined by the Council in a release last week have not started and vendors have come out to take over parking areas next to the bus park and in front of the Brown’s Town market.
No signs are up for the traffic flow or parking changes, and no extra police presence has been noticed.
Meantime, residents of Brown’s Town and surrounding communities are complaining about the lack of running water. They say they have been without water since Friday December 2. Reports are that the deep well pump at Minard has broken down and businesses and residents have been complaining about the lack of water, which they say is causing great inconvenience as people seek to prepare for the holidays.
