The Ocho Rios police have not yet charged a man who was held for the fatal stabbing of another along DaCosta Drive in the resort town on Monday, February 23.Dead is 31-year-old construction worker Richard Lester Williams, of Ocho Rios, St Ann. Williams was stabbed to death after an argument developed between him and another man, who allegedly stabbed him in the neck, killing him.The Ocho Rios police say Williams was at the river along DaCosta Drive across the road from the closed Ruins property having a bath when an argument developed with a man there. Williams was subsequently stabbed. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The argument was allegedly over allegations from one of the men that cash and other valuables left by the side of the river were removed from his trousers pocket. North Coast Times could not confirm reports that the man who has been held has no fixed address and was working on the Moon Palace site and police have been unable to get many details on him.Police had initially been praiseworthy of the quick response of other river users who had called them, stating even that one had run to the station, nearly half mile away to report the incident. The man who witnesses say allegedly stabbed Williams was held and taken into custody by police. The Ocho Rios police say the man is undergoing a series of questioning and is expected to be formally charged later this week.
