The St Ann police are yet to make a breakthrough into the murders of two cousins in the rural community of Higgin Town, in two separate incidents late last year.
The police have said that the killings are not related.
In the first incident, the body of 33-year-old Terry Bowen was discovered on Tuesday morning, December 27 at her house, where she lived alone.
She had been stabbed to death and also raped.
Bowen had Down Syndrome and had the IQ of a child.
Head of crime for St Ann, deputy superintendent (DSP) Richard Hilton explained to the North Coast Times that a suspect had been interviewed, but at this time the police were not in a position to lay charges.
The body of Bowen’s cousin, 25-year-old Orlando Lewis was discovered with shot wounds on the Geddes Road in the Higgin Town community on Wednesday morning, December 28.
DSP Hilton said in relation to that incident, the police had made no breakthrough in that case.
Reports from the St Ann’s Bay police are that at about 6:58 a.m., residents heard loud explosions coming from a section of the community.
Residents later summoned the police and on their arrival, Lewis, who was said to be a construction worker, was seen with several gunshot wounds, lying on the roadway
He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
