NABBED FOR OCHI RIVER DEATH

 

riverQuick action by police and a resident in Ocho Rios Monday led to the arrest of a man minutes after he reportedly committed a murder in the resort town.The dead man who had been stabbed in his upper body has not been identified.Eyewitnesses said everything happened quickly, at a popular bathing spot, a deep pool in a stream flowing across the main road next to the Turtle River Park, and across from Mystic Ridge Apartments, Ocho Rios. .Reports are that people were at the natural pool bathing, about 10 o’clock Monday when a man came on the scene, left his clothes by the bank of the river and went in. When he came out of the water he claimed money was missing from his pants. He accosted another man and a fight ensued. One of the men was stabbed, as people looked on. It’s not clear if the man stabbed was the one accused.The stabber ran.

Reports to the times are that an alleged eyewitness ran to the police station nearly half a mile away and alerted the police. At the same time a call had come in to the police station about the stabbing. Police said they followed certain instructions and nabbed a man.Sgt Kirk Nicholls, crime officer for Ocho Rios said thanks to the citizen. “It’s this kind of response that will help us solve crimes. We appreciate when people give us information. We want to serve them,” he said He would not say if police had found a murder weapon but one of the people who frequents the pool in the stream told The Times police had found a knife used in the killing.
