MUSIC HIGHLIGHTED IN JCDC FINALS IN ST ANN

VARIOUS FORMS AND INSTRUMENTS BRING MEDALS

It was the sound of music of many forms, on Thursday and Friday, March 14 and 15, in St Ann.

The two days of the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) finals took place in Ocho Rios, at Ocho Rios High School on day one, and in Brown’s Town, at the Methodist Church Hall on day two Friday, with dozens of students taking part.

The music entries included Jamaican popular and modern; Jamaican traditional singing (Mento and non-Mento); Folk Singing, Jazz and Blues, Local Gospel, and Local Spiritual. There were also entries in Pan Music; Drumming – Trap set and Hand drums; Classical and Semi-Classical, and DJ/Singjay. Also, there was a recorder, classroom instrumental, and wind instruments.

Dozens of gold, silver, and bronze medals and merit badges were won by the participants some of whom will advance to the National Finals.

Adjudicators were Veron Campbell, Shevonee Williams, and Kemoy Outar.
