Head of Crime In St Ann Police DSP Linton Bailey

The St Ann police have made gains in reducing major crimes in the parish but murders continue to run ahead of the number for the similar period last year.

Up to Tuesday, March 7, there were 13 murders in St Ann compared to 10 for the similar period last year. Shootings are also up.

However major crimes overall are down, with 58 for the period up to March 7 this year compared to 86 last year, or a decrease of 33 percent. Among those categories of crime that are down are robberies, down 66 percent and break-ins down 55 percent.

In giving the report on crime in the St Ann Municipal Corporation (SAMC), Thursday, Match 9,  Deputy Superintendent in charge of crime Linton ‘Thunder’ Bailey did not give the actual figures and did not list all the crimes making up the serious crimes category.
