KILLER ENTERED YARD, SHOT BARTENDER ON VERANDAH
Police are probing the murder of a popular bartender at White River near the St Ann/St Mary Border.
Dead is 54-year-old Christopher Brown, popularly called Chris.
He had worked at several bars in the Ocho Rios area and was known as an easygoing man. Among the most recent bars he worked were Oceans 11, Trade Winds, and, the latest, Mongoose.
Reports are that about 9:20 Sunday evening, May 26 Brown was at home on the White River Main Road, near the Ocho Rios Farmers Market.
Brown was having his dinner on the verandah when a car drove up and a man alighted. The man, with a gun in hand, approached Brown and opened fire, hitting him all over his body. Brown ran into his house where he collapsed. The gunman returned to the car and escaped.
Brown was taken to the Port Maria hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A motive for the killing has not been established. Investigation continues.
A close friend describes Brown as: “A humble Dude who gave no trouble.” He told the North Coast Times, “All Chris did was smile you know. Mi cyaan believe it.”
