45-Y-O FARMER ATTACKED NEAR RIO NUEVO, ST MARY

A farmer was murdered in his SUV, along the Rio Nuevo Road, St Mary, Friday evening, May 2, 2025.
Dead is 45-year-old Keyon Jones, a farmer of Woodside, Highgate, St. Mary.
Police reports are that at about 7:30 Friday evening, at the entrance to Rio Nuevo Resort, Mr. Jones was traveling in a red Mitsubishi Pajero motor vehicle that came under heavy gunfire.
Police responded swiftly to the scene, where they discovered the vehicle parked on the roadside with Mr. Jones, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, slumped over the steering wheel.
The right-side window of the vehicle also bore several bullet holes, police reported.
The St. Mary Police are reassuring residents that every effort is being made to bring those responsible to justice. Increased patrols and investigative resources have been deployed to ensure public safety and to prevent any recurrence of violence.
The murder came less than two hours after a 48-hour curfew came into effect in two communities in Oracabessa, about five miles away. The St Mary police also clamped curfews on areas in Crooked River Annotto Bay, and Free Hill Port Maria as part of their crime fighting offensive. The curfews are to run until Sunday evening at 6.
