1st Premier League Player to sign for Serie A
Mount Pleasant Ace striker Trivante Stewart has signed a three-year contract with Italian Serie A team- U.S. Salernitana 1919.
According to a release from the St Ann-based Mount Pleasant Football Academy, the deal gives 23-year-old Stewart the option to sign for an additional two years at the end of the initial contract
Stewart becomes the first Jamaica Premier League player to sign for a top-flight Italian football club.
The signing took place Wednesday, August 16, after he completed his medical.
Stewart became a Mount Pleasant player mid-way the 2021-2022 JPL season in January. He was the second highest goal scorer in the 2022-2023 season with 18 goals.
Stewart has played for Jamaica three times.
