Winners of Jamaica Premier League Football Crown
Celebrations are continuing with Mount Pleasant Football Club of St Ann following their Sunday night win that makes them the 2022-23 Jamaica Premier League Champions.
The team, based at Mount Pleasant near Runaway Bay, beat Cavaliers FC by two goals to one in the finals before a packed house at Sabina Park, Kingston on Sunday, June 11.
The two goals for Mount Pleasant in the match were scored through headers from Sue-Lae McCalla who wore the captain’s armband on the evening,
It was the first time in their five years in the competition that Mount Pleasant were taking the Premier League Trophy. It was also a first for St Ann. And it was a first too for Headd coach Theodore Tappa Whitmore who was winning his first local major trophy. He gave credit to the coaching team as well as the Board of Mount Pleasant FC.
Robert Williams, Sports Editor at IRIE FM said the investment in the club has finally paid off. He said all the right elements were there , and the Coaching team led by Tappa Whitmore was perhaps the final link.
