PRINCIPAL SAYS GRADUATION REPRESENTS ‘COMMENCEMENT OF POSSIBILITIES’

Principal of Moneague College Howard Isaacs told the 2023 graduating class of 2023 that their graduation marked the commencement of possibilities.
On Thursday, November 30, 2023, Moneague College held its Graduation Service at the Main Campus in Moneague.
More than 153 students of the college, enrolled in various programs of the Community Colleges of Jamaica, graduated. Forty-five students were awarded Bachelor’s degrees and 108 with Associate Degrees.
The ceremony represented the fourth graduation exercise in which graduates of the institution have participated. Earlier in the month, 68 students graduated in the UWI/ TCJ graduation exercise, 18 from the Caribbean Maritime University, 43 from the Jamaica Theological Seminary, and now 153 graduates from the Moneague College, Council of Community Colleges of Jamaica, Programmes.
The graduates completed their studies in a range of disciplines including Information Technology, Environmental Science, Agro Processing, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Business Studies, and various programs under the School of Humanities such as Psychology, Social Work, and Criminal Justice. The graduates were drawn from the three campuses: Moneague (the main campus) St Mary, and Linstead, St Catherine.
In giving the Principal’s Report, Mr Isaacs said “Today, we celebrate the completion of a curriculum and the birth of a community of forward-thinkers and achievers.” He urged the graduates to measure their progress by the positive impact they make on others.
“As you embark on the next phase of your professional odyssey, carry with you the invaluable lessons learned within these walls. Let your vision be guided by innovation, your decisions grounded in integrity, and your actions fueled by passion. Remember, the accurate measure of your success lies not only in financial gains but in the positive impact you make on the lives of those you serve.”
He encouraged the graduates to “Strive for excellence not for personal glory, uplift your communities, and contribute to the greater good. This is not merely a graduation; it is a commencement of possibilities. Embrace the challenges that lie ahead, for it is through challenges that we discover our true potential. Stay curious, be resilient, and never underestimate the power of collaboration.”

Mr. Isaacs spoke of the outstanding performances of students who had graduated from the College and had gone on to other institutions of study. The Principal noted that the institution was in good hands and its Board and Faculty were constantly developing its programs for the benefit of the students and community. He was confident that the College was ready for Institutional Accreditation Status and that the work of the institution would place it on a positive path to secure the same. He stated “Earlier this year, an international team from the University Council of Jamaica rigorously examined all aspects of the college’s operations as part of the process toward acquiring institutional accreditation. As we await the findings …we are confident that our efforts demonstrated that our College is ready for Institutional Accreditation status.”
