The Moneague College graduates of 2015 received several blessings, praises and solid advice at their Valedictory Service held at the Gloria Johnson Multi-Purpose Auditorium at the college on Sunday, April 26. The theme of the valedictory service was “Time matters: Building institutional pride and character; strengthening the human capital through a sound value-based culture of excellence.”Reverend Michael Llewellyn, minister in charge of the Ocho Rios Circuit of Methodist Churches, led the opening prayers and the litany. Welcome was done by Jacqueline Thames, vice principal of students’ services. Karlene Segre, representing the Ministry of Education brought greetings.Reverend Everald Galbraith, president of Jamaica Methodist District Office, who was the guest preacher, gave a powerful and encouraging sermon which centeredon the theme of ‘time matters’ and accomplishing goals before winter or before it is too late. “Some students seem to lack a culture of excellence and focus more on mediocrity and disrespect but you as graduates must develop a culture of excellence. In achieving this culture of excellence, you as students must be willing to fix broken relationships, strengthen someone else and fear God while keeping His commandments,” he said.The valedictory class of 2015 sang “Find Us Faithful’.Principal of the Moneague College, Howard Isaacs said he was happy about the college’s products. “Principals, vice principals, business operators and other employees are especially proud of the quality students we send forward into the workforce and despite all the challenges and circumstances, we at Moneague College are doing a good job at producing quality professionals,” he said.Other special guests at the valedictory service were past principal, Gloria Johnson, lecturers, family, friends and other well-wishers. Theservice also saw performances from the College Choir and the College Band. A special offering was collected in aid of the music department.
