Reports are that he had not been seen doing his usual early morning duties, Friday, May 5. Checks were made at his cottage on the Moneague campus, where Dr Grant was found unresponsive in bed. He was pronounced dead.

Principal of the Moneague College Howard Isaacs says “Dr Grant was one of those young people who I felt was going to drive education in Jamaica.”

Dr Grant’s substantive post at the College was Principal Lecturer and Quality Assurance Officer.

He said Dr Grant’s death represented a great loss to the college. Grant had acted as Vice Principal for administration and student services, between September 2022 and last month (April). Previously he acted as Academic Vice Principal.

Mr Isaacs said Dr Grant was a well-rounded person.

“He was a brilliant academic and student advocate,” Mr Isaacs said.

Grant was a past student of York Castle High; attended Brown’s Town Community College and went to Moneague as an assistant lecturer. He moved through the ranks to lecturer, senior lecturer, and Principal Lecturer. During more than a decade at Moneague he was diligent in his studies and was granted scholarships for study overseas, completing his PhD last year.
